About us:
Brazilian Gourmet is a cherished family venture that seamlessly blends the rich culinary traditions of America and Brazil, mirroring the fusion within our own family. Our mother, a skilled cook, hails from southern Brazil, while our father, an experienced American forest manager, spent a remarkable 50 years in Brazil. Having grown up in diverse regions of Brazil—Parana, Bahia, Mato Grosso—we developed a deep appreciation for its traditional cuisine.
Twenty years ago, drawn by family bonds and economic prospects, we relocated to Reno. Embracing the American way of life, we soon found ourselves yearning for the flavors of our homeland. Thus, in our kitchen, we recreated beloved Brazilian dishes. As we shared our culinary creations with friends, their enthusiasm spurred us to consider sharing our passion on a larger scale. The idea of a restaurant took root, fueled by the desire to offer feijoada, espetinho, and pao de queijo to anyone craving authentic Brazilian cuisine.
What began as a domestic necessity evolved into a fulfilling hobby, and with time and training, blossomed into a true profession. Brazilian Gourmet stands as the realization of a personal dream and the natural progression of our journey. We invite you to savor the authentic tastes of Brazil served with warm, friendly hospitality.
Brazilian Gourmet is the brainchild of John Hall, our visionary founder, whose passion for authentic Brazilian cuisine has fueled our culinary journey. His dedication and love for blending flavors have shaped our menu and created the vibrant dining experience we share with you today.
A Brazilian Gourmet offers a variety of flavorful skewers, including Picanha and Steak for meat lovers, Chicken wrapped in bacon, Shrimp wrapped in bacon for seafood enthusiasts, and Veggie skewers for vegetarians. Pastel is a popular Brazilian snack consisting of thin layers of dough filled with ingredients like minced meat or cheese. These filled pockets are folded, sealed, and deep-fried until golden and crispy. A versatile street food, pastels come in various flavors and are enjoyed at markets and festivals, showcasing the diversity of Brazilian culinary influences.
Feijoada is a traditional Brazilian dish known for its rich and hearty flavors. It is a stew made with black beans, various pork cuts, and sometimes beef, slow-cooked to perfection. Served with rice, collard greens, and orange slices, feijoada reflects the diverse culinary influences in Brazil and is a beloved national dish.
